Allergy had never been a part of my life until a few years ago when I suddenly experienced daily discomfort in the form of runny eyes, a blocked throat, countless sneezes, bumps all over my face, and hives. My work as a makeup artist had exposed me to so much harmful chemistry that I unfortunately developed a skin allergy.
Without any form of congenital allergy, I had no idea what it would mean for my well-being. The allergy challenged me in many ways, but it also became my motivation to take action to address the problem myself.
I love my work – expressing my creativity through makeup. But for me, it is really important that the dream of beauty does not come at the expense of harming my own body. When I was diagnosed with a skin allergy, I was advised to use organic mineral makeup, but it turned out to be nearly impossible to find. I turned every new product inside out in the hope of stumbling upon something I could tolerate.
Unfortunately, my experience was that ingredient lists and product descriptions were completely opaque. It was nearly impossible to figure out how pure the products actually were.
I gradually realized that there was simply a lack of a brand that was 100% transparent, harmless, and understandable for the consumer. Together with Tanja, I have created that in the form of Miild.
Allergy has always been a condition for me. I am multi-allergic and suffer from atopic eczema. As long as I can remember, symptoms like itchy eyes, hives, and sneezing have been a part of my daily life. Unfortunately, my allergic reactions only got worse with age, and with a budding interest in makeup, it quickly became necessary to seek guidance to be as gentle as possible with myself and my body.
The interest in beauty and makeup did not fade; on the contrary, it blossomed, and despite countless skeptical doctors, friends, and family members, I didn’t care; I wanted to pursue my dream and started my training as a makeup artist.
Unfortunately, I quickly found that the skeptics were right. It had significant consequences for my allergy, which became so severe that I had to medicate every day, and more or less say goodbye to my social life outside of my education. When the day was over, all energy and surplus had evaporated. I was no longer indifferent – the allergy controlled my life, and I refused to accept that. Therefore, I decided, along with Tine, to take matters into our own hands.
Since the first time I tried makeup, I have missed a brand like Miild. As a makeup artist, I have met many people with allergies who, like Tine and me, have longed for a safe alternative. Miild is created for all of us who wish for the possibility to choose the pure, natural alternative.
